Oxnard-- I have to take a few minutes here and say thank God for lowering the restrictions, you know, the yellow tier, and we are getting one step closer to normalcy.

Although this will get all the haters coming out of the woodwork, you have to thank President Trump for operation warp speed that removed needless regulations and bringing the vaccinations to the public. Of course, you can complain about this statement, but you're complaining while his vaccine is pulsing through your body. You're in the yellow tier right now because the president did what he did for the public.

Let me give you a graphic example of this newfound freedom and what it means in the city.

I had to stop at a local business on Saturday to pick something up, and the first thing I saw when I drove up was a line around the building.

I walked up to the young lady working in front of the business and asked why there is still a line around the building even though the state has dropped to the yellow tier with a big reduction in limitations.

The young lady got a little disheveled and told me the guy running the business could set any policy he wants.

In case you need that interpreted, that means the guy running the business does not care what the state thinks, and he will continue imposing limitations because that means keeping people outside his business while still collecting his paycheck.

This is not the first time I've had a problem with this business. When the state was locked down, I had to stop by, and while I was waiting, I was sitting by myself with no one within 20 feet of me, three times the six-foot guideline, and I had my mask off because my glasses were steaming up. An employee behind the counter came running out, asked what I was doing, and she told me I was violating the mask ordinance, and I was not being safe.

So, what's my point? It's simple, the rules and guidance from the state don't matter. It's about control. I guess this will continue until the state runs out of all the money they have to rescue businesses.

It's incredible to me how the state has all this money when a year ago, people were watching their lives go up in smoke while they were waiting for money from EDD. Now the statehouse is working on a big relief plan.

Of course, our governor is facing a recall, and I can't help but think this is the equivalent of buying votes. Think about it for a minute. Do you want to be known as the governor who came to the rescue with a boatload of funding as voters enter the ballot box, or would he rather be known as the governor who couldn't control the disaster EDD benefits and shut the entire state down full of small businesses as people flocked to large stores because they were essential businesses? One aid to an elected official told me that they were waiting for a loan from the federal government for EDD benefits. If you forgot, we pay more taxes than anyone, and now there are all kinds of funding. It's funny how all of a sudden, this money is ready to go. Keep that in mind when you vote.
