LOS ANGELES—People vaccinated against COVID-19 will be able to adopt a pet at a discounted rate this Saturday from LA Animal Services.

Fully vaccinated people will be able to adopt a dog or puppy at no cost, excluding the $20 license fee, at all six LA Animal Services Centers from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Would-be adopters who have received only one dose of the two-dose regimen will receive 50% off their canine adoption fee, excluding the $20 license fee. Adoption fees for cats and kittens will be waived due to an ASPCA grant.

For people who have not yet been vaccinated, but would like to take advantage of the 50% discount, the Los Angeles Fire Department will be administering shots at three LA Animal Services locations:

• Chesterfield Square/South L.A., 1850 W. 60th St.;

• East Valley, 14409 Vanowen St., Van Nuys; and

• North Central, 3201 Lacy St.

"As we see COVID-related cases back on the rise, I am pleased that we will be able to offer the vaccine at three of our Animal Services Center locations while also providing an incentive for animal lovers to adopt and bring home a new furry family member," said Dana Brown, general manager of LA Animal Services.
